EtWB Ltd - Claims Database
EtWB Claims Handling required a Database driven system to provide 25 users with the ability to process significant numbers of Total Loss Motor Insurance claims.
EtWB provide a vehicle valuation service to the Motor Insurance industry.
Once a vehicle is declared a 'total loss' by the Insurance company EtWB can handle the claim to completion, thus freeing up the Insurance company's Engineers.
InfoCentrality provided EtWB with an InfoSea Office server for centralised data storage, for the original spreadsheet based claims handling procedure.
It was clear that a Database application would be required, and EtWB produced a Requirements Specification for a solution supporting 25 users and 70,000 claims per year.
InfoCentrality designed and implemented a Database application using a web browser for the client, an Apache web-server and a PostgreSQL RDBMS.
The ClaimsDB application went live on 1st June 2007.
The application runs on a Dell PowerEdge 2950 with a 2GHz quad core CPU, 4 GBytes of RAM and SCSI disks using a RAID controller.
To speed up and improve accuracy during the initial data entry, the system has been enhanced to connect to the Audatex database system via a Soap server to download and enter claim information automatically.
By November 2008 it had been used to process more than 62,000 claims with a total database size of 68GBytes - it includes a lot of pictures, and routinely handles 50 users.
InfoCentrality have also provided an InfoSentinel system to connect EtWB's network to their leased line. Master and slave DNS and fail-over DHCP services have been implemented.
InfoCentrality provide application support, server OS updates, and monitor local backups as well as backups to an offsite server to meet business continuity requirements.

South Hampshires' leading lawncare service needed to expand their ability to connect to an Access database.
To allow several people to work concurrently on their Access database, required a complete network to be installed.
We installed the network wiring, network switch and additional desktop PC's and provided a Windows SBS server configured as a Domain server. The Access database as well as their calendar software was moved to the server to allow simultaneous access for several staff.
We provide on-going support for the office and SBS server, connecting remotely to monitor backups and carry out system updates. Backups are carried out several times a day to external USB drives that are taken off site. With 3 USB drives in use, one drive is always off-site, providing disaster recovery and business continuity assurance.
KC Dialysis Centre - Booking System
KC Dialysis Centre provide renal dialysis for patients on holiday in Bournemouth and Dorset. They required an on-line booking system.
The booking system for KC Dialysis Centre has two parts - the calendar and booking site as seen by a patient wishing to book a dialysis session, and the backend site for staff to access patient data and the bookings calendar.
As the database is holding patient data, the whole system is only accessible using a secure web-site, with login access to the backend data restricted to centre staff.
Each patient is able to access the system to check and update their own data.
To keep devlopment costs low, an open source booking system was used, linked to our own purpose written code.
We host the web-site, and carry out system updates and database backups etc.
In March 2012 we upgraded the booking system to handle more dialysis stations.
Holborn Medical Centre - Student Health Registration site
Holborn Medical Centre required an on-line site to allow students to register for NHS healthcare.
Holborn Medical wished to simplify the process of collecting information from students wanting to register for NHS Healthcare while attending University of the Arts London . InfoCentrality provided a hosted web-site linked to a database so that a student would enter their data directly, and allow a staff member from Holborn Medical to review the data and confirm the registration.
Registration has to be limited to certain Halls of residence and specific postcodes. Address checking is carried out using PostcodeAnywhere's on-line postcode checking system.
The student data that has been entered can be downloaded as a CSV file for further processing. A secure connection was also provided using a VPN, directly to the database, to enable custom queries to be submitted.
